Dear Puma Families,
We hope you are enjoying the long weekend and taking time to relax and make special memories together.
As we prepare to return on Tuesday, 2/17, please remind your Puma to charge their Chromebook so it is fully powered and ready for learning. Starting the day with a charged device helps us jump right into instruction without delays.

Join us for our Annual VMS Speech & Debate Tournament where 75 VMS students will compete in impromptu speaking and debate. Come support our students and prepare to be truly impressed by their talent and hard work.
• When: Friday, February 20
• Where: Vicenza Middle School
• Time: 3:00–5:30 p.m.
 The awards ceremony and final impromptu and debate rounds will follow immediately after.
• Food:
- Free pizza for all student participants
-Food available for purchase for all guests

Nurses Corner
Physical activity helps middle schoolers build strong hearts, sharper minds, and healthier habits that last well beyond adolescence. The American Heart Association emphasizes that kids should aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity daily. Students who move consistently tend to have more energy and better focus in class. American Heart Month is a perfect reminder that even small choices—walking with friends, joining a sport, or dancing at home—can make a meaningful difference for their heart health!

School Procedures
DoDEA School Dress Code
Students MUST wear:
- Tops with sleeves (sleeveless tops/dresses are permitted for school sponsored formal events such as prom)
- Solid clothing (not transparent or translucent) that fully covers the top and bottom from armpit to mid-thigh
- Shoes (shoes must be safe for the school environment)
- Bedroom slippers shall not be worn, except for school activities approved by the principal
- Open toe shoes with a strap across the heel are allowed
Students CANNOT wear clothing with:
- Language or images promoting violence
- Language or images that depict, promote, or advocate the illegal use or sale of drugs, alcohol or tobacco products; violent conduct; curse words; pornography; that contain threats or expressions which are violent, discriminatory, lewd or obscene; or that advocate or promote any other illegal item or activity or the use of same
- Derogatory speech and/or imagery that targets groups based on race/color, ethnicity/national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.
- Headgear that obscures the face (except as a religious observance or health purpose); clothing items with hoods attached can be worn but must not cover the head
* Teachers/courses can require certain attire as part of the curriculum (for example: physical education, culinary) that may include specific dress
* DoDEA issued athletic uniforms and athletic practice attire outside of the DoDEA school dress code is permitted when worn by participants during athletic practices and sports events

It is the responsibility of the parents or guardians to notify the school every time a student is absent. All students who arrive to school after 8:00 a.m. must be accompanied by a guardian and signed into the school.
