Vicenza Middle School Launches First Annual Art Walk
VICENZA, Italy — Vicenza Middle School welcomed families, staff and community members on Dec. 10, 2025, for its first annual Art Walk, transforming the campus into a gallery celebrating student creativity. Sponsored by the Vicenza PTSA, the event introduced a new tradition that combined student artwork, live performances and community engagement.
More than 40 pieces created by sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students were displayed throughout the school. The exhibition featured a wide range of media, including pottery, drawings, paintings, wearable art such as clothing and jewelry, LEGO constructions and photography. The variety of submissions highlighted both student imagination and the school’s emphasis on creative expression.
Live performances added to the evening’s atmosphere. The Vicenza Middle School Chorus Ensemble performed seasonal selections, while Gabriel Aldarondo, a 12th-grade student, performed piano pieces spanning classical and contemporary styles.
Two awards recognized student work and community participation. The People’s Choice Award, determined by attendee votes, was presented to seventh grader Elijah Dobbs. The Highest Bid Award went to Vicenza Elementary School teacher and Vicenza Middle School parent Michelle Strom, whose winning bid secured the LEGO piece World by eighth grader Wyatt Leonard. Proceeds from the auction supported PTSA fundraising efforts for school programs.
The National Junior Honor Society also contributed by hosting a holiday-themed photo booth, offering families and students an opportunity to capture memories from the event.
The Art Walk was supported by the efforts of PTSA Vice President Scott Johnston, art teacher Melanie Mann, history teacher Misti Leonard, administrative officer Gabrielle Tellis and music teacher Amani Jones.
School leaders and the PTSA congratulated all participating students and thanked the community for its support. The success of the inaugural Art Walk marked the beginning of what organizers hope will become an annual tradition celebrating student talent at Vicenza Middle School.
